Equipment
Espresso machine or stovetop espresso maker
Cocktail shaker
Jigger (for measuring)
Martini glass
Fine strainer (for filtering out any foam)
Ingredients
1
shot
(30ml) fresh espresso
30
ml
vodka
(preferably a high-quality brand)
20
ml
coffee liqueur
(such as Kahlúa)
5
ml
simple syrup
(optional, for sweetness)
Ice cubes
Instructions
Brew the espresso: Prepare a fresh shot of espresso and let it cool slightly. This is important to avoid diluting the drink with hot coffee.
Fill your shaker with ice: Add a generous handful of ice cubes into your cocktail shaker.
Add ingredients: Pour the espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and optional simple syrup into the shaker.
Shake: Vigorously shake the mixture for around 15–20 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty.
Strain and serve: Using a fine strainer, pour the cocktail into a chilled martini glass. You want a nice foam layer on top.
Garnish: Add three coffee beans as a garnish for a classic espresso martini presentation.
